Expanded Design & 3D Scanning Capabilities Boost Refit Efficiency

Expanded Design & 3D Scanning Capabilities Boost Refit Efficiency

Following a significant investment in technology and equipment, as well as an increase in personnel, we are delighted to advise we can now offer on-site 3D scanning and enhanced design services.

Our newly acquired 3D scanning tools allow us to capture data over large, complex areas with impressive accuracy. We can design, reverse engineer, and fit or build just about anything with total precision, without needing multiple visits to a vessel. Accurate information can then be easily shared with international parties in multiple formats.

Our investment in design and engineering has increased year on year, and proven its value many times over in terms of efficiency, professionalism, and communication of design intent to our customer.

In further expansion, we are pleased to now offer high-quality 3D rendering services as well as structural engineering, geometry verification, and finite element analysis.

In-House Design Team Grows to Support Advanced Yacht Refit Projects

In-House Design Team Grows to Support Advanced Yacht Refit Projects

BMComposites has recently expanded its in-house design team to 4 full-time Designers and Naval Engineers, over-seen by a management team of vastly experienced Technical Project Managers.  Using the latest 3D CAD development software including Rhino, Solidworks and Autodesk, plus its in-house high-accuracy 3D scanning, the BMC Design Team is able to create virtually new structural and cosmetic carbon-fibre/composite components that can be visualised and tested prior to manufacture.  The same 3D CAD data is then used to generate highly-accurate tooling in which the components are manufactured.  The resulting parts require, if anything at all, a small amount of surface filling prior to painting, so vastly reducing weight and the costly fairing processes, which are required with aluminium fabrication.  Additionally, by 3D scanning the yachts at the start of the project, the parts can be manufactured off-site and later delivered to locations all over Europe for rapid installation, without the need for hot works and often even painting on board.

With its in-house Design department, BMComposites is able to offer a truly one-stop-shop for fully-managed composites refit and repair programmes for the Superyacht industry.

Refined Starlink Flagpole Returns with Upgraded Design for 2024

Refined Starlink Flagpole Returns with Upgraded Design for 2024

Following the huge success of its combined flagpole and Starlink antenna mount in 2023, BMComposites has refined the design and is in the process of CNC-machining tooling to produce a new version of the flagpole for 2024.

Laminated in hi-strength and light-weight, autoclaved, pre-preg carbon fibre, the flagpole can be configured in lengths from 1.5m to 3m. Supplied as standard in a marine-grade polyurethane paint finish, with upgrades to metallic or clearcoat carbon finishes on request. The flagpole is designed to cooperate with the high-performance flat marine Starlink antenna.
